My Photos

The following are all posts which contain photos that I have taken.

Simple things.

Sometimes you spend ages setting up a photo and it’s great and people love it. Particularly with portraiture. Sometimes you get lucky; shoot a few pics whilst out on a walk and one or two turn out well. Sometimes you point your camera out of the window, at nothing in particular, tweak the colours a bit and upload it to Facebook and double digits worth of people all click Like on it.

This is one of those. I reckon Ikea ought to flog prints of it for £8 each. Perhaps it could be called LUKKI? Anyway. Not posted for a while so thought I’d plonk something up.

Limited editions – cows and landscape

In my previous photography post I indicated I might do a limited edition print run of the two photos; the cows and the landscape. I might yet change the titles of both; certainly I’m going to drop the word England from the start of the title of the landscape, making it just “With all thy faults, I love thee still.” … As for the cows. Maybe “Kissing cows?”.

The two Artist's Proofs

Anyway, I’ve got the artist’s proofs now, and they are *awesome*, hopefully as you can see from the (phone camera snapped) shot above.

There will be a limited edition print run. It will be an edition of 50 each only. They will be £150.00 each. Discounts available for anyone that buys more than 5 in total. I will post the specification of the paper and print/inks etc once I have them; but the quality is extremely high. Each print will be numbered, titled, and signed. Anyone interested, please email alex.bloor@okcheersbye.co.uk.

Two photos I am pleased with

England, with all thy faults, I love thee still.

Firstly a photo looking north west from the fields to the south of where I live. This was taken in the early evening. I’ve done quite a lot of processing on this to help it ‘glow’.

The title is borrowed from a quote by the poet William Cowper, and genuinely reflects how I feel about this kind of landscape.

Cows by noonlight

I took this not far from where I took the first. Unlike the previous image, this has not been heavily processed. Obviously this shot was taken directly facing into the sun. One of my friends said it looked like the two cows on the right were kissing.

This title is a corruption of a quote about trading shares (the gist being he who buys shares without some advanced or insider knowledge as as foolish as one who buys cattle by moonlight).

If anyone would like to buy limited edition prints of these, please post below, as I am contemplating getting a small print run done. They will probably be approximately A2 in size, and will probably cost around £50-75 each. If this sounds expensive please understand these are printed on VERY heavy high quality paper using UV safe professional inks. They will be printed by a fine art printer who prints for a number of  well known artists. And if I do decide to do a run, it will be limited to probably a quantity of 50.

The Seagull – cast portraits

I am a member of WADS (Westerham Amateur Dramatic Society). This latest production was Chekov’s The Seagull. I mainly did sound on this production but I got to do the cast portraits, which were placed in the entrance hall to the theatre, each with character name and the actor’s real name.

These were all shot at F/1.4 or 2.2, to knock out the detail in the background (but leave the essence of the tree/shrubs behind). I think the sepia effect helped create the impression of age. Camera is the EOS 7d, lens is the 50mm F/1.4 Canon.

My site header

Just showed this building site to a friend who said “I hate that theme”. To which I said “at least I changed the photo”…. (pause) …. “for one I took myself”. To which he replied “thought it was a stock photo.. looks amazing”.

Yes I took the photo myself, it’s the top of City Hall next to Tower Bridge. I was walking back from Shad Thames in the direction of London Bridge and spotted they were having a party up there. It was taken without tripod too 🙂
